IN THE BALTIC SEA
from
If you’re into proper sailing but don’t fancy suffering for it, this Baltic programme hits a very different balance.
You’re still getting real offshore passages, night watches, and meaningful miles - but on a boat that actually lets you recover, sleep properly, and enjoy the experience along the way.

We’re sailing on a Beneteau First 40.7 - a proven performance cruiser that sits right in that sweet spot. Fast enough to feel alive under sail, but with a proper saloon, comfortable cabins, and the kind of layout that works when you’re doing multi-day passages. This isn’t stripped-out racing discomfort, and it’s not a slow floating apartment either. It’s the middle ground most people are actually looking for - but rarely find done well.
The Baltic itself does the rest. Long daylight hours, steady winds, and a route that mixes proper offshore legs with technical coastal sailing through some of the most interesting waters in Europe. You’re not just drifting between marinas—you’re navigating, standing watches, making decisions, and building experience that actually translates.

And that’s the key difference here:
You’re not choosing between “hardcore sailing” and “comfortable cruising”.
You’re getting both—without compromising either.

You’ll log serious miles, sharpen your skills, and still wake up rested enough to actually enjoy the next leg.
If you’re aiming to step up as a sailor but want a setup that’s sustainable, sharp, and well thought through—this is exactly that.

Meet “Petruchio” — Beneteau First 40.7

“Petruchio” is exactly the kind of boat most sailors are actually looking for—but rarely find done properly. She’s a Beneteau First 40.7, which means one thing straight away: she’s fast, responsive, and built to sail properly. This is not a heavy charter boat that drifts between marinas. She reacts, she moves, and she rewards good sailing. Out at sea, especially offshore, that makes a huge difference—you feel connected to what’s happening, not just carried along.

At the same time, she’s genuinely comfortable. The cockpit is well protected, which matters far more than people realise once you’re doing long passages. You’re not constantly exposed or fighting the elements—you can actually function, trim, navigate, and stay sharp. Down below, the boat opens up into a proper living space: wide cabins where you can rest properly, a spacious saloon where the crew can regroup, and a galley that works at sea—not just in the marina.

The layout is simple and effective. The cabins are wider than you’d expect on a performance boat, which means real sleep between watches—not just survival. The saloon is practical and comfortable, so the boat doesn’t feel cramped even with a full crew. The galley is properly set up for passages—you can cook, prepare food, and keep the crew going even in rougher conditions.

But the real strength of “Petruchio” shows offshore. This is where she makes sense. She’s stable, predictable, and fast enough to cover serious distance without feeling like hard work. You’re not fighting the boat—you’re working with it. That’s exactly what you want when you’re building miles and experience. It keeps the sailing engaging, but the overall experience sustainable.

Bottom line: this is not a compromise between comfort and performance. It’s a rare balance of both. Comfortable enough to live on for days, but still a proper sailing yacht that comes alive at sea—and that’s why she’s the right platform for offshore passages.
PLEASE NOTE: When you book onto the trip you are fully committing yourself, you are not a passenger on this boat. We really feel strongly that this is your boat to sail and we facilitate that in every way we can. There will be only 5 people in the crew, and the result of this trip will depend on each crew member!
